COTI Vision was founded by longtime friends and eyewear industry colleagues Julie Hawkins and Nancy Gries, who were tired of constantly losing their reading glasses. Their idea earned them a spot on BBC's Dragons' Den, where Deborah Meaden was so taken by their story that she offered them a deal on the spot, the only Dragon to do so, securing their business £50,000 in investment.
